Alter Boy

Friday at school mass, Aaron got to be an alter server for the 1st time. I was so thankful that I was able to attend this mass. It was great getting to be there for his 1st time, and I think it was less nerve-wracking for Aaron having his 1st time being at a school mass, where he knows everybody and feel more comfortable. Here's a few pictures...

This 1st one is his teacher and another alter boy helping him get his alb and cincture on ...

And here he is, ready to go...

And here he is as the group processes in...

He did a great job. He sat nice and still, and paid attention. And to make things even better, at this same mass, Monsignor called Sadie's class up to gather around the alter during the consecration. This was the 1st time her class got to go to the alter for this (usually, he just calls up one of the elementary classes, but his time, he called up the pre-K'ers). What a neat experience for Sadie.

Here's a video of the recessional...

I only wish that I had been able to get better pictures. Unfortunately, the lighting isn't great in the church, and parents sit in the back for the school mass, so there was no way to get good pictures of the alter area. Oh well...at least I have the memories :)

Today, we decided to wake up extra early and go to the 8:00 mass. We know that there aren't many servers for that mass, and we were hoping Aaron would get the opportunity to serve again. And bingo...we were right. There were only 2 people assigned to serve, so Aaron got to help out. And again, he did a fabulous job (aside from a yawn or two...but I can't blame him because I was yawning a bit too).

Sadie loved watching Aaron as he served, and can't wait until she is old enough. The only thing she didn't like about him being up there was that she couldn't give him the sign of peace :)

Wonderland Park Night

Last night was Wonderland Park night for the kids' school. We met for a hot dog supper before going to the Park. I never have understood why we feed our kids (and ourselves) hot dogs before we go ride on spinning, twisting, swinging, dropping rides, but that's what we've always done. And the kids seem to handle it fine.

This year, Toby wasn't able to go with us (grrrr railroad). So I had Sadie and Aaron, and they don't really ride the same rides. And the kiddie rides are on the opposite end of the Park as the rides Aaron usually rides. Luckily, one of Aaron's friend's dad let Aaron go with them. And me and Sadie hung out with Sadie's best friend and her mom. The one downside of this...I only got one picture of Aaron. So here are some pictures of Sadie and her friend from the night, and one picture of Aaron...

First, the boats...

Next, the Frog Hopper. Sadie loves this ride, and here she is trying to convince her friend to ride with her arms up...

Troi didn't want to try it without hands, but Sadie kept hers up the whole time!

Next, the helicoptors...

Then, the carousel...

Here's where Sadie almost got kicked off the carousel because she decided this ride needed to be more exciting, so she rode on her knees, then tried to stand up, then the guy running the ride ordered her to sit down...

And here's the one picture of Aaron, on the coaster formerly known as the Mousetrap. Now, I believe it is called the Zyclone, which makes no sense, because there is also a roller coaster called the Cyclone...

The kids had a great time, and I was exhausted. Needless to say, we all crashed pretty hard last night!
